Healthy Hedonism: Evil Carrot

Nicky (who works at the farmer's market near Lincoln Center) gave Jan this evil carrot yesterday and then he prepared a really incredible salad and ever since I ate a bowl of it I've been getting these weird pangs in my shoulders as though Satan was hugging me.

Healthy Hedonism: Heat Rave

It is important to live in a wild neighborhood while you are young and virile. The streets can be littered with crushed cans and Chinese food Styrofoams, rather than ice cream parlors and small cafés, and that is important for building personal character and getting a greater sense of what New York City was really built on. Most of your neighbors smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol during the day and jay-walk artlessly because there is an overall sense that nobody is watching over them and that the future does not hold better days.

To an extent their notion is wholly correct, and the city is casually looking away to shrug responsibility for its down-trodden. The wild neighborhoods remain dirty and open to disease, and you have the opportunity to live within them and keep a lot of things in a healthy perspective.

Because little is regulated, there is also open opportunity for Domino's Pizza to sell small pepperoni pies out of the trunk of an unmarked American sedan for $5 on any given incredibly hot day. It's part of their "heat wave" promotion, which is the term for the silver insulated case that envelopes the delivered pies. It's too hot in New York to need the "heat wave" and it's too hot in New York to consider ordering low-grade pizza - but if you see it being handed out at such a price, anything is possible.

Should you purchase one, you will probably - almost instantly - experience buyer's remorse. Add a touch of class to your senseless hedonism by putting cold kimchi on top of your pizza slices.

And host a heat rave.

Healthy Hedonism: Apple Cider Vinegar

People like to be bothered. When someone talks about what a hassle you are, it isn't purely to vent or warn others, as much as it is their taken opportunity to bring you up. Because they like you. Because you bother them. Your annoying quirks are what endear you to a person, more than your positive attributes or kindness or helpfulness; your talents may be impressive but they will never make someone love you the way they will when you assert your arbitrary-but-firm preferences.

Apple cider vinegar, the juice of fermented apple must, is a known digestive aid and bacterial-infection-clearing miracle liquid - but did you also know that it can cause irritability and nervousness? Exactly! The two real emotions that can cause you to seem annoying to those around you can be found in apple cider vinegar!

Drink up.

Healthy Hedonism: Alcohol Menu

The planetary partier is crucial to the bettering of hipster society. This cadet worships parental Earth while funneling its delights, recognizing that his and her body is a temple and using it for very bad.

A healthy hedonist will take marijuana before a long, challenging-but-healing yoga session, take runs after an evening of cigarettes, and take tofu to a deep-fryer without reservation. Healthy hedonists are as happy beneath a waterfall in provincial Jakarta as they are on an iridescent Friday night in Brooklyn.

If each person must exhibit good and evil, it is wonderful to think that these individuals believe such yin-yang extremes could emerge harmoniously under a rotating ball of mirrors.

These are better hipsters for a better future.
